German Shepherd Rottweiler Mix Puppies Information and Pictures

It is only when a dog is well loved across the continent that he gets called by many names. Such is the case of the German Shepherd Rottweiler Mix puppies, who are known by a lot of names like, but not limited to Shepweiler, Rottie Shepherd, Rottweiler Shepherd, Shottie, Rottie, and what not. Some even go so far as to call them the Rotten Shephard.

Let us read about their temperament

If you have seen a German Shepherd and Rottweiler or you own one, then you may know that the German Shepherd Rottweiler mix would be a large breed. When you bring home a large dog, especially if you are a first-time dog owner, it is only natural that you would have questions about his lifestyle and, more importantly, how he would fit with you, your lifestyle, your family, and your house.

Normally in case of interbred dogs, one cannot know their temperament as surely as one could determine about the pure breeds. You never know which positive or negative trait would be inherited.

The Germans are known for their fierce nature, which is why they are hired by the police and the military personnel. Many people club this trait with their serious looks and feel that this breed can be aggressive. But, this breed, or any breed for that matter, would fly off in rage only when ordered or if they feel they, their family, or their humans are in any danger. Similarly, the Rottweiler is known for the same qualities.

Are they easily trained?

Since both the parents of a Rottweiler German Shepherd mix are highly intelligent, very hard working, service dogs, and very focused, training their pup is a piece of cake. The only thing, so you need to ensure is the following:

  • You start their training early on in life before any negative habit takes shape, you need to ensure that your dog is properly socialized.
  • Since we mentioned in the temperament section, this dog can be territorial, so while socializing them, special care needs to be taken to ensure that they are comfortable with new people and situations.
  • While all dogs should not be trained using negative training techniques like shouting or physical punishments, care should be taken that this is not done for this breed as he could get overly aggressive when harmed in any way. You obviously do not want that.

But, if you are anxious, you can pay to have his parents tested for any existing or genetic issues that might affect them and then take a call.

How much exercise does he need?

Growing up, both German Shepherds and Rottweilers tend to have weak hips and elbows. So, you would need to ensure that the Rottie German Shepherd puppies get plenty of exercises. That coupled with proper diet would ensure that your pup is very healthy and stays that way.

Along with this, since this is a large breed, if proper daily exercise routine is not set he might become destructive around the house to remain entertained. You can also get various toys that would help him stay entertained.

In order to ensure that your dog is happy and healthy, you should spend at least an hour and a half with your dog. This includes walks, play time, and being together.  If you have a yard, it would be even more awesome as he would have a place to enjoy and run around.

How would it work with your family?

If you plan to stay out of the home and if there is no one at home during the day, you might have to forego your decision as it would not be the best option for you to get this dog. As mentioned, this dog would need a lot of your time and exercise. So, your family should be cool with taking him to long walks and spending more time with him. He might need a lot of brushing, at least twice a week so that your house stays hair free.

Now, let’s come to the point of how would be work in a family of small kids. While they are good with kids, it is better to keep an eye at all times.
